Jack Stuart

Attorney

Jack is a highly decorated, retired USAF fighter pilot with a distinguished 28-year career of operational peacetime and combat fighter experience, as well as extensive experience at both Air Force Space Command Headquarters and the National Security Space Institute. He is one of only a handful within the National Security Space community uniquely qualified to bridge the gap between technical and policy domains, as a result of his strong electrical engineering (BSEE) and aeronautical science (MS) technical backgrounds, complemented by substantial legal knowledge gained from the study of law (JD) and years of practice as an attorney.

Jack’s broad international law, policy, and strategy skills, coupled with subject matter expertise in over 65 subject areas made him the natural choice to stand up DoD’s capstone Space Professional course, Space 300, at the National Security Space Institute. Handpicked as a spokesman-advocate to USECAF, NRO, and Congressional Strategic Space Subcommittee staff, he is an articulate, focused leader with a demonstrated record of rapidly adapting to and actively managing highly dynamic environments.

DoD- and Commercially-Seasoned Attorney

Jack’s extensive background in engineering, aviation, government, and business law qualifies him to provide key insights and counsel to his clients about the inner workings of the government agencies with which they collaborate. Additionally, his experience as corporate counsel to one the world’s largest natural and organic food distributors results from having drafted and edited thousands of contracts spanning the gamut of contract law – to include licensing, product, broker, third-party, employment, and a host of other agreement types – and including many agreements valued at $50M or more. Further, Jack’s government-contracting background helps him to arm his clients with an understanding of the potential landmines associated with government contracts, including those pitfalls associated with other contractors – prime or sub – when executing technically perplexing legal provisions, as well as the critical tools needed to avoid those issues.

Unique Insight into Government Cyber Programs

Jack is a three-time Top Gun winner in the F-117A as well as the founding architect and Director, Space 300, the capstone course for DoD space professionals. As the former Chief of Cyber Programs at USAF Space Command Headquarters, he was the Air Force’s lead fiscal programmer responsible for migrating and consolidating the Air Force’s multi-multi-billion-dollar cyber missions under one agency.

As a result of gaining depth in these diverse arenas, Jack possesses unique insights into the span of government programs as well as into fiscal programming. This broad government sector experience enables him to provide insights for his clients into the inner workings of the agencies with which they collaborate. Further, as a patent and intellectual property attorney, Jack ably represents his clients in all aspects of business- and intellectual-property-related transactions, whether those transactions deal directly with the government or with a prime or a subcontractor.

Patent Attorney and Airline Pilot

When he is not working in our main office in Colorado Springs, Jack is flying for a major airline. He is, in fact, the only patent attorney in the world who is also a current, qualified and active pilot for a major airline, further providing him unique insights into yet two other fields: aviation and aviation-related patent law. Jack currently flies internationally, holds an Air Transport Pilot qualification (essentially the “PhD” of flight ratings) in the Boeing B-777, Boeing 737, and Airbus A320 transport aircraft, and has amassed over 15,000 hours total time. Jack, his wife and two daughters reside in Colorado.
